Due to a power outage at North Allegheny Senior High School, today, Wednesday, May 21, will be a Flexible Instruction Day for NASH only.
Students who were already en route to NASH via NA bus will be asked to wait for buses to return from the elementary run to take them back home. All other students will be sent home upon arrival in their personal vehicles or parent drop off.
All other district buildings will operate as normal.
The primary purpose of social studies education is to provide a comprehensive curriculum that will enable all students to develop the skills that will allow them to develop into well-rounded, informed citizens who can contribute meaningfully to their communities and democracy. Through inquiry-based learning, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and utilization of technology, students are encouraged to develop and practice the skills necessary to live and compete effectively in the global workplace. For this reason, the ability to assess varied arguments and sources of information for accuracy, bias, and substance is critical. Students must be able to formulate informed arguments drawing on evidence from a diverse set of resources. Democracy, at its very core, depends on citizens being able to make decisions based upon accurate information.
