The North Allegheny School District’s current Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and ALICE provides enhanced response options for individuals based on the information they have received in the event of a crisis situation.
ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. It is a proactive approach to prepare and respond to potential threats such as active shooters or violent intruders. The training aims to provide our students and staff with valuable tools and strategies to enhance their safety and empower them to make informed decisions during emergency situations.
ALICE training goes beyond the traditional lockdown procedures and encourages individuals to assess their unique situation(s) and take actions that best suit their circumstances. It focuses on options such as evacuating the building if it's safe to do so, using barricades and other obstacles to secure a room, and, if necessary, actively countering an intruder as a last resort.
